Our gallant team lost by one point (48:47) to Warkworth in the final of the Div 2 Any Combination Pennants Competition at Brown's Bay today. The match comprised 63 ends (three teams of three each playing 21 ends) and the final bowl of the final end in the last of the three games to finish decided the match.
Despite the disappointment of losing such a close run encounter we took solace from the fact that this is the closest we have ever got to a Bowls North Harbour trophy and the experience of playing under pressure conditions will be carried forward to next year. The team were well supported from the sidelines and thanks those members who travelled with them to Browns Bay.
A subdued group of team members and supporters returned to the Club house to lick its wounds but it was not long before the indomitable Beach Haven spirit prevailed and within a few minutes (judging by the noise level and laughter echoing round the bar) a visitor might have thought we had won.
Next Year Folks, NEXT YEAR!
