Following our success in the BNH Mixed Pennants competition our Mens Team was invited to participate in Div 2 of the NHB 7s where each Club plays in Fours, Pairs and Singles format. This competition feeds successful teams into a National Clubs Competition and is of a generally high standard.
Despite our trepidation (and with the aid of a few refreshments) we accepted the invitation with the result we reached the semi-finals having won sufficient points in the Round Robin matches and a quarter-final. The semi-final however, played against a very experienced Brown's Bay team, proved to be just beyond our capabilities. In retrospect we were pleased with the result as we had progressed further than most thought we would (including ourselves) and gained a tremendous amount of experience in the process.
There is no doubt that Beach Haven BC can produce teams that can play at a very good level. With the confidence we have gained over the last few weeks and the right attitude, we will continue to do so.
It should also be remembered that BHBC is a Community based Club, and membership, both Playing and Social, is open to all who enjoy meeting new friends and having some fun in the fresh air.
