The Men’s Junior Pairs Championships were brought to a close on Tuesday evening in an absorbing and hard fought match between Dave Hilson/Randy Skelton/ and Jason Blackmore/Gareth Towler. In less than ideal conditions due to leaky skies both teams put up some outstanding bowls and the match could have gone either way until the last two or three ends. The eventual winners, Jason & Gareth, took the match by a relatively narrow margin.
Despite the conditions an enthusiastic and engaged group of members acknowledged the standard of play from the shelter of the deck in the traditional fashion and greeted both teams warmly at the after match function. Well played Gentlemen, it was great entertainment for us all and well lived up to the standards we have come to expect of our junior teams. Our condolences go to Dave and Randy who it must be remembered are in their first year of bowling and put up a wonderful fight. Our best wishes go to Jason and Gareth who will be representing the Club at the North Harbour Bowls Champ of Champions in April.
