Although a relatively small field competed for the Hookway Trophy for Ladies Singles this year, the standard of bowling was high considering the number of first and second year bowlers taking part. A great omen for the future of Ladies Bowling at the Haven. Two sections played for a place in the final which once again featured Nola Glenn and Eileen Ponting, both of whom have held this championship in the past few years.
On a fine warm day the Final was a lengthy affair of 26 ends comprised of a closely fought match which saw a change of lead several times. The final score of 21:16 went to Nola Glenn after a strong finish in the final few ends. Well done Nola, a well deserved win.
It should be noted that Nola is a little taller than apparent in this photo, neither is President Richard a man-mountain. Our photographer for the day must have been a bit carried away with the notion of artistic licence!
