Ladies Pairs and Men’s Triples Championships wrapped up for 2018.

Well, it was just another day in the paradise they call Beach Haven. A little breezy perhaps, but a good turnout of Members for the Ladies Pairs and Men’s Triples ensured some good bowling, good humour and a good top up to this summer’s sun-tan.

Despite a relatively small field this year, the Ladies Pairs finals turned out to be a closer affair than some had predicted, an indication that the high standard of Ladies bowling in club is being maintained. What is even more of note is that three of the players involved were only in their second year of bowling, and were coping with the conditions extremely well. In fact one of these three, Sandra Hilson, was the lead in the victorious team, skipped by Eileen Ponting, So our congratulations go to Sandra and to Eileen for their win over Judy Withers and Zelda Sullivan. Well played to all concerned, and we look forward to further growth of Ladies Bowling at The Haven.

The Mens Triples competition again threw up some unexpected results in the Round Robin Section where one of the lower ranked teams made it to the final. The Final, however, provided a very predictable overall result (and deservedly so), as Gary Bank’s team of Morris Pita and Roy Parker took the match from the team of Karl Glenn and Ray Anderson, skipped by El Presidente Richard Ponting.

Club Captain, Ian Little, presented both winning teams with their Trophies in his usual humour-laced style and the day’s proceedings were bought to a very social close in the Mighty Haven’s traditional manner in the Club House. A great day’s entertainment all round.
