The Beach Haven Kits secured another solid win at home this weekend, hosting Orewa in the Division 2 Mixed Pennants Competition. After a shaky start to the season a steady improvement in play and a gain of experience is starting to show good results for the team. The Club is very proud of them.
The Badgers in the Mixed Div 1 Competition had an even closer game than last week being away to Glenfield, where Team 1 - (Pam Bostock, Karl Glenn & Roy Parker) had yet another good win and Team 3 a narrow loss. In the Team 2 game the 21st end was killed by our skip Garry Banks to avoid a loss. The replayed end produced a tie, so an Extra End was required where the game and the whole match was decided by a superb bowl under huge pressure from David, Skip of Glenfield’s Team 2. Well played, David.
Entering two teams in the Pennants competition this year was a bit of a gamble for the Club, but it is already being recognised as a good decision. We now have a much larger base of players who have interclub experience and we will be better off for it in the future and the Pennants competition still has a few weeks to run!
