McNair Rosebowl Tournament

The threatening skies cleared, the sun came out and we enjoyed another entertaining day at The Haven playing for one of our long standing Club Trophies, the McNair Rosebowl. Whilst the turnout from our membership was not 100% due to holidays and other factors, those that did play provided plenty of entertainment for the gallery, playing in 242 format and Consistency scoring which can result in 25+ points per team over 8 ends.

Following experiences in the Club Championships for 4s and Singles in recent weeks, our more experienced bowlers again found themselves on the wrong side of the Score Sheet and languishing among the “also rans”. This can only be a good thing for the Club’s future overall competitiveness and we celebrate those members who rose to the occasion.

A 3-game Round Robin produced two teams with two wins each from 3 games and the winners were decided on Points Differential which in this case was +6 for Eileen Ponting and Jimmy Dunn who were just about unstoppable in their third game - which they had to win by a big margin to claim the Trophy. Well done to you both!
