Men's Fours Championship and Two Birthdays Great Successes!

For the first time in many a year 6 teams competed for the Men's Fours Club Championship. Despite the very warm, and later on, very hot conditions, we suffered no casualties. This is probably due due to the challenging conditioning programme all players subjected themselves to over the preceding 6 weeks. Or Not.........

Whatever condition the players were in, some genuinely close matches were played in the two sections, most going down to the last end, or in one case (the Final), the last bowl. So well done to all players, it was a great day of bowling all round.

Alas, we can only have one winner, and the Team of Dave Hilson, Bill Briton and John Everett, skipped by Club Captain, Ian Little won the day in the closest of finishes from the team of Dave Hunter, Dan Markovina, Gareth Towler skipped by Jason Blackmore.

It is widely known that Bowls is a very social game, and this is never more true than when Anniversaries, Birthdays, or any other Significant occasions occur. In this case we had two Birthdays to Celebrate, being those of John Everett and Rick Markovina. We knew John's age and we guessed Rick's (as did the rest of Beach Haven) when the unsteady strains of the Beatles’ "When I'm Sixty Four" wafted around the green. Congratulations, Guys, we hope you are both around for many more years yet.
