A Very Entertaining Junior Singles Day!

It was a day where, under sometimes threatening and sometimes clear skies, the temperature varied from 17deg early on, dropping to near 12deg around midday and finishing at a balmy 21deg in the afternoon. Never-the-less our Junior Championships exceeded our hopes and all expectations in terms of the quality of bowling - if not consistency of conditions.

The experience of players involved spanned the full gamut of eligibility with the notable participation of First Year Bowler, Mark Jakich, who played well above the level normally expected of a 3 month bowler. We look forward to witnessing Mark’s future efforts on the green. Remember:- You saw it here first!

Due to the closeness of some of the games the required 21 Point winning post took some time to achieve, so despite the relatively early start, the final matches were not completed until mid-afternoon - fortunately in the warmest part of the day. The final outcomes for both Ladies and Mens Championships were not clear until all games had been concluded and the results assessed.

As is the case in most longish competitions, experience was the decisive factor, especially in the Ladies Competition, which was won by Sandra Hilson for the 4th consecutive year - an extraordinary achievement. The runner-up was Gloria Markovina, a second-year bowler with all the attributes to go further in the game. The Mens competition saw two relatively experienced Juniors in a close battle for honours with Dave Hilson not being quite able to catch playing-through Champion, Dave Hunter at the end of the day.

The day was finished off in typical fashion with refreshments in warm sunshine on the deck and some Haven Humour lacing proceedings. What another great Day!!!
