Our annual Alexander Plate event drew a relatively small group of members, but that did not detract from the quality of bowling for the day on our rapidly improving green. The recent care and attention it has received from Brendon and Morris is now paying off for the membership who enjoyed near near-perfect bowling conditions of medium-fast speed and a true surface. Even the breeze stayed away most of the day further adding to the pleasure provided by the green itself.
The traditional format of pairs was observed with one triple to ensure no byes, and the aggregate scores from 4 games of 10 ends produced a good test for all concerned and a close finish. The top three teams all had two wins so Ends were the deciding factor with Karl Glenn and Dave Hilson being the Runners-Up with 17 Ends to a fine performance of 19 Ends from Darrin McLay & our President, Richard Ponting.
As the President remarked over a lemonade at the after-match function, “As a Junior bowler, Darrin played out of his skin on the day and it was good to be on the receiving end of a presentation for a change rather than being the presenter!”

The Badger
