On an overcast but warm and almost windless day the Junior Pairs Championships held on Sat 16th January once again produced some excellent bowling and augurs well for the future of our Junior events.
Although only a relatively small field of Junior members participated, the quality of play greatly impressed the spectators, some of whom are now viewing the future Open Championship matches with more than a little trepidation.
For the second consecutive year our Junior Women's Champions are Sandra Hilson and Gloria Markovina who justly deserved to retain their title. In the Mens competition two First Year members, Garry Denley and Mark Jakich gave Dave Hilson and Darrin McLay a real tussle at times, but in the end the more experienced pair took the title and the Trophy.
If the name Hilson sounds familiar, it is worthy to note that the Club has recorded its first occasion on which husband and wife have won a similar Championship title in the same year, so well done the Hilsons!
