Despite a COVID-limited field of Members we completed our first Tournament of the Season on Saturday - only about 2 months late, but in glorious sunshine and light breezes. The Marie Ray Plate commemorates the long association between Marie Ray and her husband with the Club and was first played for on the occasion of her 101st Birthday following which she saw further repeats before passing away in her 108th year.
Drawn Pairs is the usual format for this Event and we had 10 teams competing in the usual Beach Haven spirit of good playing skills mingled with sportsmanship and great humour. The result was that there were some close finishes in many games which was reflected in the final tally with two teams with 4 wins and two teams with 3 wins - all separated by very close margins.
The runners-up were Ricky Markovina and Ian Davis and the winners were Gloria Markovina and Roy Parker.

We also acknowledge the great work put in over winter by our Greenkeeper, Brendon Kelly, and also Mo Pita, for presenting us with a superb playing surface for our first outing.
